Review highlights
Based on 967 reviewsIl Borghetto del Castello is widely praised for its authentic Italian and seafood offerings, highlighting fresh, high-quality ingredients and traditional dishes, notably the highly regarded seafood "Padellata." The restaurant's charming outdoor setting near a historic castle adds to its appeal, making it ideal for family dinners and relaxed Sunday lunches. Reviewers consistently commend the friendly and attentive service coupled with reasonable pricing and a well-curated menu. Some feedback notes minor inconveniences due to outdoor dining, such as the presence of insects, which can affect comfort during meals. Overall, the restaurant is recognized as a welcoming, flavorful destination that captures the essence of Lucca’s culinary and scenic charm.
Lovely restaurant! The staff and food were amazing. The most delicious and authentic Italian food I had whilst away. The only down side was the amount of bugs that we had to put up with whilst eating and even made us skip desert as we couldn’t stand being near the wasps and spiders any longer. However it is an outdoor restaurant so it is partially expected. Other than that it is great.
A great find. Really friendly service, delicious, reasonably priced dishes and a lovely menu choice. Highly recommend
Friendly, affordable and very good quality food. Sunday lunch atmosphere is very enjoyable, too bad that, for the moment, it is restricted to take away only. Looking fwd to the easing of restrictions when we will be able to go back
Authentic seafood experience, in a traditional setting, perfect for family dinners immersed in the countryside of Lucca
"Padellata". At Borghetto is the Best Seafood Spaghetti dish in the world for me. Great restaurant in the Lucca area located next to a beautiful castle town. My favorite seafood dish ever is their "Padellata", a large pan filled with fresh seafood like lobster, crab, scampi, clams, mussels and good spaghetti. All very nice quality. The Padellata gets better and better every time. Now many seafood restaurants in Tuscany try to make something similar but for me nobody is able to make it nearly as good as Borghetto. Consider that I am very demanding on regard of seafood quality, freshness, and preparation. Every other dish is great as well. I like the mix seafood appetizers as well and they have nice non-seafood dished also. Great desserts as well. Great wine list. The waiter always suggests amazing white wines. If you visit Lucca you cannot miss this place about 10 minutes taxi ride from the walls of Lucca.
A great place to go if staying nearby or visiting the castle. Decor can be misleading, but the food is certainly worth the decision to stay. Amazing gnocchi with crustaceans and steak on a hot plate. Pizzas for the kids were good too.
We got this restaurant recommended by the owners of Villa Pardi in Lucca. From the villa it's a 500 meter walk to the restaurant and so we did. We had a delicious dinner and the crew is very friendly. Please do make reservations as the restaurant can be very busy. And that says enough about a restaurant, doesn't it?
We were recommended this place and it did not dissappont us. We (family of five) did not have a reservation, but was welcomed anyway. The restaurant was full with a good vibe. We had meat, pasta and pizza and all the dishes tasted delicious and looked nice when served. We had a good time here.
